The study takes place at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics of the Slovak University of Technologyin cooperation with the Faculty of Business Management of the University of Economics in Bratislava.

- technology and technical equipment,
- solving design and technical problems,

- project planning and its documentation.
As an engineer on this programme, you will know
- create urban design and land use plans for the purpose of guiding spatial development,
- to comprehensively develop architectural designs and projects of buildings, their interiors and exteriors,
- to solve tasks from the urbanistic whole, through the architectural concept of buildings to the artistic and technical details, including interiors of buildings, their reconstruction, restoration of listed buildings and ensembles,
- to cooperate in the architectural design of engineering structures as well as in the artistic completion of buildings,
- to manage the coordination of aesthetic, technical, structural, economic, ecological and social requirements,
- supervise the implementation of buildings and files,
- how to handle project management and coordination activities,
- lead and coordinate the work team.
Graduate employment
After successful completion of your studies you can work in both the design and implementation spheres. After completing the professional practice and passing the authorization exam according to the Act on Authorized Architects and Authorized Civil Engineers, you will be registered in the list of authorized architects of the Slovak Chamber of Architects.
You can work in both state and public administration (building office, construction and environment departments, chief architect’s office, monuments office). You can also work in development, business with a focus on urban planning, architecture and construction or teach in secondary and higher education with a focus on urban planning, architecture, construction and art.

Your focus
This field is ideal for you if you studied architecture during your undergraduate studies.
Make your study plan
There are 3 types of courses in the programme:
- compulsory – you have to take them,
- Compulsory electives – you must take a specified number of them and get a specified number of credits from them,
- selection – you choose the ones you like. They can be within your programme or another programme. You can even take a course from another faculty or college.
The recommended study plan is designed so that by completing it you will meet the requirements for graduation within 2 years.
But you can adjust it to suit you – you just have to follow the rules set out study regulations.
Course of study
To be able to enrol in the next year of the programme, you need:
- obtain at least 15 credits in the first semester of study,
- obtain at least 30 credits per academic year,
- pass all repeatedly enrolled courses,
- not to exceed in the following period the permitted length of study according to the study regulations.
Obtaining the degree of engineer
In order to successfully complete your engineering degree in Urban Planning you must:
- complete all compulsory and the prescribed number of compulsory elective courses of the study programme,
- 120 credits,
- prepare and defend a thesis,
- take the state exam.
